IC Ad Hoc Volunteer Committee – General Info

Minnesota FPS will be hosting the 2010 International Conference in La Crosse, Wisconsin, June 10-13, 2010.  As hosts, we have the opportunity to assist in the day to day workings of the conference.

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • Volunteer during the conference
  • Assist in finding volunteers for the conference
  • Assist in finding Host Families for our International friends

The time commitment varies according to:

  • How much time you can give in planning prior to the conference
  • How much time you can give during the conference
  • Whether or not you have a student competing in the conference

This committee will communicate:

  • Mostly via email
  • Possibly during free time at the regional and state competitions
  • If the committee feels that it would be beneficial to set aside a special meeting, separate from the above events, a centrally located site will be chosen.

Duties to assist with at IC:

  • For those of you that have had the IC experience, have you ever been greeted by someone from the host state?  I know that I never was.  Wouldn’t it be great if we actually had shifts of adults and students to greet our guests as they registered?  Maybe we can even get some MN trinkets donated to hand them.
  • It is our job to provide a choir director and someone to accompany on the piano.  (The accompanist could be one of our students.)
  • The Zippy Newsletter Editor
  • Monitors for the competitions
  • Oral Presentation (skit) Judges
  • A Scenario Reading Facilitator
  • People to help supervise the CmPS Fair
  • People to help chaperone the dances
  • People to supervise at the Opening Ceremony, the Variety Show, and the Closing Ceremony.
  • Awards Set up.
  • IC Mural Coordination
  • Help unload the IC truck and re-load.  Students would be great for this!  We really need help here.
  • And more…

If you want to volunteer at the International Competition (IC), please fill out this form.
