Bullying Prevention Project

Audrey Berdahl-Baldwin, Sydney Eberwein, Louise Edwards and Annette Eneanya are seniors at Mounds Park Academy
who are currently taking Maureen Conway’s Public Policy class. In this class, students are assigned to find a current issue that they are passionate about, and work toward finding a solution to this issue. The group of four students chose to tackle bullying issues in Minnesota schools.
Both Edwards and Eneanya are participants in the Future Problem Solving Program and agree that FPS sparked their interest in the problem-solving oriented class. Furthermore, they cite their creative problem-solving skills gained from FPS, as useful background for brainstorming strategies to target bullying issues.
Now, their organization, Students Demanding Change (SDC), is working with the PACER Center to organize a student rally at the Minnesota State Capitol to express their support for anti-bullying legislation. As a group, SDC believes that everyone has the right to feel safe in school and students have a responsibility to stand up against bullying. In order to voice concern to legislators about bullying issues in Minnesota, their goal for the rally is to have as many students attend as possible.
Students Demanding Change invites teachers, parents and especially students to come to their rally on February 11th from 12:00-1:00 at the Minnesota State Capitol in the rotunda.
